Chapter 6- Beast for Air
"The beast.."

Dear Diary,
All of boys on the island are going on this crazy obsession on the beast. This beast is what is haunting us even though they can’t catch Sam and Eric and leave no footprints. The beast is just imaginary. No beast, that has huge claws and is a ferocious thing, could not catch Sam and Eric, two littleuns living on our island. The beast is just a figment of the boys imagination. I bet that Sam and Eric just made up the story about them being chased by the ferocious beast and them being able to run away from it. First of all, this beast is, from what they are saying, a beast with huge claws and snakelike, would be able to catch two little six year old boys. When the boys came back to use, flailing their arms, they told us that story. I wonder if the other boys actually believe them.
Ralph wished for the adults to send us a sign. A couple of nights ago, the sky lit up with a crash from a plane. I wonder if anything fell from the sky; maybe a person or an item of some sort. I think the crash was a sign to us, that the adults are looking out after us. They may not be wish us, or know where we are in any case, but they are looking after us. That would be a great reassurance to us as well as the littleuns.
Today we went and explored Castle Rock. I thought it was just a rock with guano covering it. It is these huge rocks that are clumped together that are interminable. It is just an endless clump of pink rock. The boys went searching for the beast there. Only Ralph and Jack climbed it. Castle Rock is a cliff that is one hundred feet high. The boulders, if dropped, could kill a person. Hopefully, we never deal with that.
Something that I don’t get is the embroil between Jack and Piggy. Here is this smart boy that doesn’t appear muscular, and then this headstrong hunter that thinks he’s better than everyone else. It doesn’t make sense to me that Jack could just boss Piggy around. I understand that Jack is a natural leader, but that doesn’t mean anything. He isn’t the chief; he’s not the one in charge. Piggy is a fatter boy that wears specs and Jack chooses him to pick on; nobody else but Piggy. It’s just wrong. Whenever Piggy tries to stand up for himself, Jack mutinously disobeys and smashes his confidence. I really don’t get how these boys can be so cruel to just one person. Everyone has equal rights and they all deserve to know that.
