Chapter 7- Shadows and Tall Trees
" The obsessive Pig Slaughter"

Dear Diary,
Today, all the boys went on this crazy frenzy. They are like a bunch of impervious savages. They stabbed a pig in the eyes and then they started attacking Robert. Robert is a bigun so I don't see why they did. They cornered him and at first were pretending to hit him, but then they actually started to. Even though he cried out in pain, they didn't stop. He was beaten like he was playing rugger. They wanted to make this into a ritual on the island but I hope it never stays. They wanted to find a drum and have a fire and either kill a pig or a littleun. By the time this frenzy is over, everyone on the island, will be dead.

Dear Diary,
Today, all the boys went on this crazy frenzy. They are like a bunch of impervious savages. They stabbed a pig in the eyes and then they started attacking Robert. Robert is a bigun so I don't see why they did. They cornered him and at first were pretending to hit him, but then they actually started to. Even though he cried out in pain, they didn't stop. He was beaten like he was playing rugger. They wanted to make this into a ritual on the island but I hope it never stays. They wanted to find a drum and have a fire and either kill a pig or a littleun. By the time this frenzy is over, everyone on the island, will be dead.
Apparently, the boys discovered the beast today. They said that it was a big chimp. What happened to it being a huge snake?? I never really thought there was a beast. It's just the boys imagination mixed with things on the island. I bet the chimp was just a big rock or a bunch of creepers. Jack and Ralph need to realize that first, there is no beast on this island, and second to go searching during the day rather than at night.
Ralph as well as everyone else on the island, are starting to change. Ralph is becoming a savage and I believe he is actually starting to agree with Jack. I hope this doesn't stay because what will happen to me and the littleuns. Jack is becoming more and more bravado. He believes that he should be leader for some apparent reason. I don't think that Jack will become the leader as long as Ralph steps it up. All the littleuns are starting to side with Jack because he is offering them meat. He is bribing them which is not fair. The boys need to start using their brains. They have them for a reason. They are sage inside, but it sure isn't showing.
I am so glad that we don't have to plant anything. We just catch and pick the food that we need. Our island is moors and would be horrible to plant on. The food is good but Jack and the hunters are taking and killing all the pigs. If this killing rampage keeps going on, then if a few weeks we won't have any meat left.
