Chapter 10

The Lord of the Flies

The Shell and the Glasses

Dear Diary,

Piggy and Ralph both were talking. They were talking about the mistakes, the regrets. They were the ones that witnessed this horrible event but let it happened. They are they ones that participated in these murderous activities. These are the victims of the Lord of the Flies.

They were talking about the events that took place the night of the feast. The boys were chanting by the fire, surrounding it with rings of humans. They were dancing and eating and eating and dancing. Then I ran out of the forest and the savages were released. I tried warning them about the aviator on the mountain but my voice was drained by the ripping and tearing of flesh. After that, the boys just disappeared into the darkness. Ralph and Piggy both regret the decisions that they made. They boys were just filled with adrenaline and acting barmy.

Ralph and Piggy realize how much this might effect them. Every person on this island, contributes something. Now my contributions are gone; one less mind on the island. I guess in a sense, that this might be good; one less mouth to feed and house. Piggy and Ralph both are ashamed and even Sam and Eric are too. They both are denying that they were a part of this disgusting attack and left early.

The island, along with me, has been stripped and purged of anything holy or civilized. All the boys have become monsters and don't think twice about it. Because the boys have no form of civilization, they don't know the difference between right and wrong. They don't think, they just act. The boys had some leadership when Ralph was the leader but now with Jacks tribe and Ralph participating in the attack, everything theological had disappeared.
