Lord of the Flies
Chapter 9- View to a Death
" The Feast"
Perspective: Ralph
1. In Simon's sanctuary, the flies prefer the pigs head on a stick. This is the boys sacrifice to beastie.
2. Simon decides to go search for the beastie at Castle Rock.
3. Simon realizes that the beastie is just an aviator by actually examining the body and untangling the parachute from the rocks.
4. Piggy is the one that suggests that him and Ralph should go to the party.
5. Piggy is burnt from the fat of the pig which causes the boys to crack up in laughter.
6. Jack tells Ralph that the conch doesn't count on his side of the island.
7. Towards the end of the party, the sky becomes dark and the boys can tell that a storm is coming. It begins to thunder and lightening as well as raining.
8. The boys chant," Kill the beast. Cut his throat. Spill his blood."
9. Simon is the one that emerges from the forest to tell the boys the important noise about the beast.
10. I believe that it is the whole tribes fault that Simon is dead. They are the ones that attacked him and didn't think twice about it. He emerged from the forest with some important news on the beast and they attacked him. He was trying to help the boys but instead, he got himself killed. The boys have become savages. They didn't just spear Simon, they bit and ripped him apart, not listening to his begs for them to stop. The boys are the reason for Simon's death. They may need Simon some day and because of their decision, they never even see him again.
