TIME: already finished bookTOTAL PAGES THIS WEEK: 0QUESTION 1:14. What other character(s) beside the main character is really important to the story? How and why? INSTEAD OF A CHARACTER, I CHOSE AN EVENTRESPONSE 1:The main characters, both Sarah and Julia, are mentioned quite a lot but something that effected them both was the Vel'd'Hiv. I think that this is the event that is really important to the story. It was what made Sarah go on her amazing adventure and happen to stumble along Julia's own family.
The Vel'd'Hiv was a Jewish roundup that took place in July of 1942. It was when Sarah and her family were taken from their house and forced to live in unsanitary places before they were sent on trains that arranged their deaths. Sarah was one of the lucky few that could escape and tell her story. Although she was ashamed and never told her family, Julia discovers links between her in laws and Sarah's family. Sarah and Julia were connected by the Vel'd'Hiv roundup.
QUESTION 2:
16. Which character would you like (or not like) to be your friend? Why?RESPONSE 2
I think that I would want to have Sarah as my friend. In this story she seemed both brave and courageous. I think that we would get along very well. Something that I think may bother me is that she is so used to doing everything her way, she might not let anyone give her any advice. Since she had to take care of herself, I don't think she really learned to trust anyone. She seemed like a nice person that would stick up for herself. She seems like she would be a great friend.
I wouldn't want to be friends with Fernadad. Although he was a charming French man, he was a lying cheater. He was having an affair throughout his marriage and to me, that is completely wrong. I don't like liars and if I was in Julia's situation, I wouldn't know if anything he said was true or not.
