This quote doesn't relate exactly to any of the questions but goes along with how Valentino maintains his cultural ties from his homeland. He is remembering the story of the creation of his earth in his countries perspective.
2. When this quote was said in the book, I understood the title of the story. I was confused when I first started reading What is the what, but now I am getting closer to understanding the title. When Sadiq said this, it followed the story of the world. Valentino's father, the one that told this story, said that the first man was given two options. Either the cattle or the What.
Valentino is remembering the story that his father told him. As with everything, every region, culture, and religion has a different take to worlds important events. Valentino was remembering the story of his religions birth of the earth.
3. Although I am starting to understand the title, I still don't clearly get it. This quote was given to see if the man was thankful or if he was to take the unknown. I can't think of an exact situation where I have had to choose between something I have or the unknown but I have definitely seen it happen. Some people take what they have for granted and that's what was being tested here.
4. Have you ever been offered something unknown and have to give up something important in exchange?
"Do you want me to be quiet? I will stay quiet if you'll stop dropping things on me."
Said by Valentino
On page 73 paragraph 3
2. Valentino came to the United States to start a new life. When this burglary happened, he felt violated. Valentino was in a situation where he could do nothing to fix. It was hard for him to just sit there and be ignored by a little boy. He was practically begging this little boy not to hurt him. He couldn't take the pain anymore.
3. Valentino did everything that he could do. When he tried to fix it, he was either completely ignored, or silenced with duct tape. I think that inside Valentino is a very brave man who knows what to do in dire situations. In this case, he's not totally sure what’s going on and that affects his judgments.
4. Have you ever been in a situation where you felt like you couldn't do anything to make it better?
