1. Why have the characters in your book come to America?
"They shot at me twice but i escaped and continued to run through the thicket."

- The question that I think this quote represents is the reasons why my characters came to the United States. Valentino had gone through all these wars and had seen so many loved ones die, he just couldn't take it any more. He had to flee from his home and run from every place he thought was safe. He wanted to start fresh and America provided that for him.
- I have never been shot at and I am very thankful for that. I think that Valentino had been through a lot and I am glad that I have not had to experience the things that he has. Valentino made the right decision to flee from every "safe" place. He knew that if he stayed he would be killed.
- Have you ever been in a situation where you can't stay in a place that you consider to be safe?

2. "Michael is awake and roaming...... Now Michael moves down the hall and into my room."

- Valentino has met a lot of people and some of them haven't treated him well. He met the people that donated items to him to put in his house. Then the robbers came and take everything that is valuable to him. So far, his experience with American people hasn't been that great. They took advantage of him and took everything that people had just given to him.
- I think that if someone just came into my house and took everything, I'd feel violated. Just the fact that people came into my house without permission and took anything they wanted would make me feel horrible. I think that it would be horrible to have that feeling in your own house.
